How about it, guys? New year, new piercings. We’re in the first week of 2018 so I think it’s a good time to clue you in on a few piercings that should definitely make your to-do list over the coming months. I say this for myself, as well! I didn’t get any new piercings last year and I’m really itching for some new ones in my ears somewhere. I’m sure my future piercing lies somewhere nestled within this list. I just don’t know which one yet!

1. Orbital Conch

Although the orbital conch (also known as simply “orbital” piercing typically uses two holes, similar to an industrial piercing, it’s not always the case. Orbital piercings got their name because it appears like they’re orbiting the ear in a way. This look can be achieved with two holes and inserting a hooped ring within the holes. It can also be done with just one piercing, as pictured. This one seems to be far more popular. With this one, the hoop isn’t within the confines of the cartilage but rather is nestled against it. It’s kind of like a hug for your ear. Regardless of how you want to get an orbital piercing, it’s a super cute look to consider.

2. Forward Helix

Forward helix piercings are done opposite to helix piercings. Helix piercings are done in the upper, outer part of the ear cartilage. Forward helix piercings are placed on the upper, inner part of the ear cartilage. It’s a really nice new take on the original helix piercing, which is done quite often.

3. Rook

A rook piercing is one of those fun piercings you can get which will take all sorts of jewelry when healed. Once healed, you can change it up and wear captive rings, hinged hoops, or other sorts of applicable jewelry. If you want a body mod that’s a little different from the norm, this is the one for you!

4. Anti-Tragus

Baby ears gettin’ fancy.

Located just above the earlobe and across from the tragus, the anti-tragus is a cozy little spot for a piercing. Once healed, go crazy with the cute jewelry!

5. Snug

How the snug piercing is done depends entirely on the client. You can have it level with the ground, tilted upward, tilted downward, horizontal, or even vertical! If you have a tragus, you could even try to line the snug piercing up for a perfect line of little studs across your ear. Now that I’m thinking of it, this might be a super cool piercing to add to my own to-do list… And the more I think about it, the more I love it!

6. Medusa/Philtrum

I adore medusa (also known as philtrum) piercings so much! I feel like they just make a person look twice as attractive if they’ve got a medusa. Personal opinions aside, it’s a very fabulous way to amp up your smile with style.

7. Triple Flat Cartilage Piercing

This piercing blows my mind. There are so many different ways it can be done. It can be done in a small triangle formation, in a straight line, in a curved line… You name it, I am sure your piercing artist will do their best to accommodate you. This is a fresh and fun piercing that will look even better when healed. I’ve seen this piercing with so many different patterns and designs, it’s definitely one of my personal favourites. But will I ever have the guts to go get this piercing? That remains to be seen…
