No — hoops aren't recommended during the initial healing window. Fresh navel piercings are pierced with a curved barbell because the straight, stable post lets swelling and drainage behave predictably while tissue forms. A hoop applies continuous circumferential pressure that can irritate a fresh piercing and prolong healing. Wait until your piercing is fully healed (6–12 months) before switching to any hoop style.

The method depends on the hoop style. Clickers open on a hinge — press to release, thread through the piercing, and close until it clicks. Captive bead rings open with a gentle pry of the ring ends (or hoop-opening pliers), then seat the bead and release to hold it in place. Seamless rings twist sideways (never bend) to thread through and back — if any style feels like it needs force, stop and see your piercer.
