How to size a nose ring

A nose stud is defined by three things — its gauge (the bar's thickness), its backing style (how it stays in place), and its wearable length (the part that sits inside your piercing, which the style sets).

Gauge — the thickness of the bar

Most nose piercings use 20G (0.8mm) or 18G (1.0mm). Match the gauge to your piercing so the jewelry sits securely — the scale runs in reverse, so a smaller number is a thicker bar.

Backing style & length

The backing holds your stud in place, and it sets the wearable length:

  • Twist, Bone & L-Post — 1/4" (6mm) wearable length
  • Flat Back — 18G, 1/4" (6mm) wearable length
  • Straight Post — 3/8" (9mm), and can be bent to your fit
  • End Only — the decorative front on its own; a backing is sold separately

A diamond in bloom, hand-set in hypoallergenic solid 14K gold and made with preferred backing style. The Jasmine is designed for those who love a more noticeable, luxury-forward style — bold sparkle, softly inspired.
