Body Jewelry Wear & Care Guide
General Care & Cleaning
You love your new body jewelry, so if you want it to last, it's super important to take good care of it. Here are some helpful tips on how to properly care for your piercing jewelry.
Part of the responsibility of owning high-quality jewelry is knowing how to properly care for it. By practicing proper jewelry care, your fine body jewelry could last a lifetime. Here are some tips to keep your jewelry in top shape.
Inserting Piercing Jewelry
Put it on in a well-lit room where you can easily recover small parts should you drop it. Clean the jewelry first with warm soapy water - be sure to plug the drain first!
Care & Cleaning
- Store your jewelry in cotton-fill box.
- Clean with warm soapy water. Do not use harsh chemicals like bleach, detergents, or alcohol.
- Real gold scratches easily, so keep each piece in a separate compartment.
- Body jewelry can easily be damaged by catching on towels, so be mindful when drying.
- Do not sleep in delicate or elaborate styles. At bedtime, simply switch out for a basic design.
- Contact us to have our jewelry professionally cleaned and polished periodically. You will be amazed how different it looks afterwards.

Threaded Piercing Jewelry
Most styles contain threaded components that screw and unscrew. It’s important to handle these threads carefully to avoid damage. Do not over-tighten balls or charms, as this can strip the threads and ruin your jewelry.
The balls on your barbells may loosen over time with regular wear. Check them often and gently re-tighten as needed. If you lose a ball, you can always purchase replacement body jewelry parts.
To insert:
Insert the backing into your piercing from behind. Then, attach the charm by gently rotating it clockwise until it feels secure (do not over-tighten).
To remove:
Hold the backing steady with one hand and turn the charm counterclockwise with the other hand.
Threadless Piercing Jewelry
Intended for long-term wear and designed for comfort, threadless ends eliminate the need for butterfly backings and threaded ends.
To insert:
Insert the pin about halfway into the post.
Gently bend the pin slightly (a greater bend creates a tighter fit).
Push the end into the post to close — the pin will straighten inside, creating tension that holds it securely in place.
To remove:
Firmly pull both pieces apart.
Nose Rings
Nose rings are fairly easy to insert, but there’s a trick to doing it without irritating your piercing.
To insert:
Place your index finger inside your nostril to support the piercing from the inside. With your other hand, insert the tip of the post into your piercing and gently push until you feel it touch your finger.
💡 Tip: Apply a small dab of Vaseline or saline gel to the tip of the nose ring to help it glide in smoothly.
To remove:
Hold the charm on the outside of your nose and gently pull. If you have a twist-style nose ring, slowly twist while pulling to remove it.
Hinged Clickers
Our clickers feature a proprietary hinged mechanism with a clasp on one side and a hinge on the other, allowing for easy opening and secure closure. Because each clicker is handmade, please handle it gently and never force it open or closed.
To open:
Locate the clasp. Using both hands, pinch each side of the seam with your fingertips, then gently lift and pull to open.
To close:
After inserting, align the clasp (the side with the pin) with the barbell and gently press it shut until it clicks into place. It should feel secure. You may need to carefully press down slightly on the clasp to ensure proper alignment.
Captive Bead Rings
The ball or bead is held in place by tension — there’s no clasp or hinge.
To insert / remove:
Hold the ring with both hands — one hand on the ball or segment, the other on the hoop. Gently pull in opposite directions to release the ball or segment.
⚠️ Do not twist or pull forcefully, as this can distort the hoop’s shape.
Once the ball is removed, insert the hoop through your piercing. Then, align the dimples on the ball with the ends of the barbell and gently “pop” it back into place.
Seam Rings
Seam rings are continuous hoops with a small seam where the ends meet. How you open and close them is crucial to maintaining their perfect circular shape.
To open:
Gently twist the ends away from each other — one forward, one backward — to keep them aligned.
⚠️ Never pull the ends directly apart, as this will permanently distort the ring’s shape.
Remember: Twist apart, don’t pull apart.
