How to size a hoop or ring

Seam rings, clickers, captives and circular barbells are all sized by two things: gauge (the wire thickness) and diameter (the width across the inside of the ring).

Gauge — the thickness of the wire

Gauge should match your piercing so the ring sits securely. The scale runs in reverse — a smaller number is a thicker wire. Most cartilage and facial hoops are 16G; heavier placements like nipple and VCH are 14G.

Diameter — the width across the ring

Diameter is measured across the inside of the ring, not counting the bead. A smaller diameter sits snug and close to the piercing; a larger one hangs with more movement. Use the chart above to find the standard diameter for your piercing.

I bought this for my wife because we were struggling to find a nose ring that was comfortable for her and was easier to put in instead of a segregated ring. I also wanted to spoil her with something nice. This has been a perfect fit for her and super comfortable. It always stays shiny and more so than surgical stainless. Plus, you can hardly notice the hinge unless you look really close. I highly recommend these rings. My only frustration was trying to make contact over the phone during business hours when it was tough for me to get time away from work to call. I made three calls and got only one call back the first time I attempted. After my third attempt, I was sent an email apologizing for the “phone tag”. I was ultimately able to use someone else’s computer to complete the transaction since I was unable to complete the transaction from their mobile site.

The clicker ring is definitely well nade but very hard to open and close. I suggest that once you open it you place it where you want it because once it is closed ( easier than first opening it) it is done! Very beautiful finish on it. Comfortable to wear.
