How to size a straight barbell

A straight barbell is a straight post with a ball on each end. Two measurements make it fit right: gauge (the bar's thickness) and length (the wearable span between the two balls).

Gauge — the thickness of the bar

Match the gauge to your piercing so the jewelry sits securely. The scale runs in reverse — a smaller number is a thicker bar. Nipple, tongue and industrial piercings are typically 14G; smaller cartilage placements use 16G.

Length — the span between the balls

Length is measured between the inside of the two balls, not counting the balls themselves. Use the chart above for the standard by piercing — 1/2" (12.7mm) for nipples, 1 1/2" (38mm) for industrials. A fresh piercing is often fitted a little longer to allow for swelling, then downsized once it heals.

Love!!!

I was a bit hesitant at first because it was pricey but I knew it was real Gold and I would be supporting a small business. Plus, nowhere else could I find this design for this high quality. Once I received it I was in love it was exactly what I wanted. I could have downsized one but I like a looser fit.

A little disappointed

Like the other reviewer I was hesitant to purchase because of the price point but I couldn't find a 14K gold bar many other places that looked trustworthy. This was my first purchase from FreshTrends & I bought this product + 3mm 14k ball ends. I am so glad I bought the 3mm balls becuase the gems on this bar are much larger than I expected, they are not dainty like in the picture, I think it would be helpful if this business added the measurement of the gems to the product page.

The bar itself was the perfect size (I ordered the 30mm) but the 3mm ball ends I ordered with it do not **** in properly like the gems, they leave a small gap and were extremely difficult to thread. Given that it took 11 days from when I placed the order to when my order shipped because of a very "strict quality control process" I would expect the 3mm balls I ordered to fit seamlessly with this bar and **** in smooth like the gems.

There are no returns (which I understand) and the whole process was so slow I probably will not order from this company again, hopefully the balls don't fall out but I am definitely worried given there is a small gap due to poor manufacturing.
