How to size a nose ring

A nose stud is defined by three things — its gauge (the bar's thickness), its backing style (how it stays in place), and its wearable length (the part that sits inside your piercing, which the style sets).

Gauge — the thickness of the bar

Most nose piercings use 20G (0.8mm) or 18G (1.0mm). Match the gauge to your piercing so the jewelry sits securely — the scale runs in reverse, so a smaller number is a thicker bar.

Backing style & length

The backing holds your stud in place, and it sets the wearable length:

  • Twist, Bone & L-Post — 1/4" (6mm) wearable length
  • Flat Back — 18G, 1/4" (6mm) wearable length
  • Straight Post — 3/8" (9mm), and can be bent to your fit
  • End Only — the decorative front on its own; a backing is sold separately

Cubic zirconia, aka CZ, is a man-made gemstone that shines just as brightly as a diamond or precious gemstone; unless you look at it through a microscope, you may not be able to tell the difference. When you want the dazzle of a diamond, but you're worried about wearing an expensive diamond for daily wear, then cubic zirconia makes a stunning substitute. The 2.0mm CZ is a popular size, since it is not too tiny but still quite dainty. Our nose rings are handmade in-house and specifically designed to sit flush against your nose. Super disappointed by this nose ring. I usually order the L bar shape for my nose and this bar was so long it kept poking out of my nose when I'd breathe and I'd have to adjust it multiple times per hour. I've never seen a bar so long before, so unfortunately this piece is useless to me. It was nice quality but for the price I am disappointed, I tried to make it work and couldn't. It looked like I was constantly picking my nose. I had to go back to my regular nose rings from Spencer's

I have tried other shops for nose jewelry, and I always end up putting my studs or hoop back in from fresh trends. It is truly quality and the only place I can find jewelry I don't react to. The tiny stud is my favorite. Anytime I've gotten an irritation bump from trying other jewelry, putting this stud back in immediately calms things down. I have both a screw and an L bend.
